HISTORIC ST. AUGUSTINE ENGAGEMENT SESSION
Some love stories take time. Some wait patiently. And some are quietly building long before the timing ever makes sense. Christina and Lewis are the kind of couple that reminds you that what’s meant for you will always find its way—no matter how many detours it takes.
They first met back in April of 2016 through a mutual friend at the Jacksonville Jaguars Draft Day Party. Lewis had just moved from Raleigh, Christina was navigating her own season of life, and neither of them was exactly available for what they both felt almost immediately. But even then—standing in the hotel lobby of the Omni in downtown Jacksonville—there was something there. That spark. The kind you don’t forget.
Timing wasn’t on their side, so instead of forcing something that wasn’t ready, they did something rare—they became best friends.
Lewis continued to come down and visit over the years, always just as friends. Until one visit felt different. The timing was finally right. They were both single. And what had always been quietly there finally had space to grow.
They went out in downtown St. Augustine for dinner and drinks—easy, fun, familiar. And then came the moment that changed everything.
Standing under the last streetlight in front of Casa Reina, waiting for their Uber, they locked eyes. And right there, under that light, they shared their first kiss. One of those moments that feels suspended in time. The rest, truly, is history.
Fast forward to September 6th, 2024.
Lewis planned a proposal under that very same streetlight—the place where it all began. With help from Christina’s sister, and with both families traveling in for a surprise celebration, every detail was thought out perfectly… until the weather had other plans. A torrential downpour hit, and every carefully planned minute went out the window.
But soaked and smiling, Lewis led a very confused Christina back to “their light pole.” And there, in the rain, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Proof that the most meaningful moments don’t need perfection—just heart.
Of course, their engagement session had to be in St. Augustine. Of course, the Jaguars had to make an appearance. And of course, we had to go back to that light pole.
We started their session at their wedding venue—the Lightner Museum—where we had them pause for a moment and picture their wedding day there. Standing in the space where they’ll soon promise forever felt incredibly special. From there, we wandered through the cobblestone alleys of the city, laughing the entire way. Lewis had Christina smiling nonstop, and honestly—it felt like they didn’t have a single worry in the world. They were just having fun. And so were we.
We made our way toward the bay, stopping (of course) at their light pole, where they shared another kiss—right where their story truly began. After a quick outfit change into Jaguars gear (GO JAGS!), we had them reflect on the day they first met and everything that led them here. Watching them take that moment together, with the sun setting, was incredibly sweet.
Christina and Lewis, we cannot wait to celebrate you and witness the beginning of this next chapter of your story—right here in St. Augustine, the city that holds so much of your love. Your story is proof that timing matters, patience pays off, and the best things are always worth the wait.
