It was God’s perfect timing, placing two hearts in the same place at just the right moment.
The real spark came on their second date at River and Post. On the rooftop, beneath the open sky, fireworks lit the distance while conversation flowed effortlessly. Jana noticed Rudy was willing to miss watching the Gators game just to be with her—that alone said a lot. And as the night came to a close, Rudy told her words she would never forget: “I’ll always look after you.” That single phrase set the tone for the life they were about to build together.
Fast forward to the proposal: Rudy poured every ounce of thoughtfulness into that moment. At Riverside Park, just steps away from where they first began, he created a dreamy setup with lights, pictures, candles, and a picnic blanket. Even the ring box was carefully chosen so Jana wouldn’t suspect a thing. When he asked, she said yes to forever.
When we met Jana and Rudy for their engagement session in St. Augustine, the sparks were undeniable. Honestly, from the very first click of the camera, it felt like we were watching their love story unfold in real time.
We kicked things off under the dreamy oak canopy of Magnolia Avenue—talk about a setting straight out of a fairytale. Jana and Rudy instantly slipped into their own little bubble, twirling, giggling, sneaking kisses, and holding onto each other like they’d forgotten anyone else was around. Rudy even threw in a few surprise dips (10/10 on style points, Rudy!), leaving Jana glowing with laughter and us melting behind our cameras.
From there, we wandered into the heart of historic downtown St. Augustine. We stopped at the stunning Lightner Museum, then strolled down Aviles Street—one of the oldest cobblestone streets in the country. Walking behind them, it felt less like an engagement session and more like we’d been invited on the sweetest date night. They were so natural together—two people completely at ease, completely themselves, and completely in love.
We wrapped the evening at the bayfront, just as the sun dipped below the horizon. The sky turned gold and pink, but honestly, it had nothing on these two. Jana and Rudy made our job so ridiculously easy—we left with full memory cards and even fuller hearts.
What makes their story so moving isn’t just how they met or where Rudy proposed—it’s who they are together. They’re partners in every sense: cooking, exploring, laughing, asking one another the kinds of questions that deepen love and understanding.
